Raphael Varane has paved the way for another top-class defender to make a move to Manchester United this summer.
During his three-year spell at Manchester United, Raphael Varane became a fan favourite for his passion and commitment to the club.
Varane has no regrets over joining United, and even recommended to players that it is an incredible club to join.
Sadly, Varane retired from football in September just months after leaving United, but he remains a fan of the club and a popular figure among the fanbase.
As Ineos look to rebuild United’s squad this summer, a defensive target has emerged that could follow in Varane’s footsteps.

Evan N’Dicka idolises former Man Utd star Raphael Varane
With Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof leaving this summer, United may be tempted to strengthen at centre-back.
Earlier this week, reports claimed United are showing interest in Roma’s Evan N’Dicka who is valued at £33.7m this summer.
United’s Europa League finalist opponents Tottenham are also showing an interest in the 25-year-old centre-back.

N’Dicka has been a key player for Roma this season, playing every single minute of their Serie A campaign, as well as making 11 appearances in the Europa League.
Before joining Roma, N’Dicka made his name at Eintracht Frankfurt and his Bundesliga profile reveals his admiration for former Red Devils defender Varane.
When discussing his style of play, N’Dicka said: “I like how Samuel Umtiti plays very much, he is very, very strong. I also like the way Raphael Varane plays. Or Adil Rami. I watch them. Getting close to this standard wouldn’t be that bad for me.”
How Evan N’Dicka could fit into Man United’s starting XI
With no European football next season, United can keep their squad for the 2025/26 season relatively small.
Despite losing a few centre-backs, Amorim will still have the likes of Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Tyler Fredricson to pick from at the start of the campaign.
Lisandro Martinez is set to return in 2026 as well, but United may need another left-footed option and that is where N’Dicka fits nicely into Amorim’s system.

In Rome, N’Dicka has thrived on the left side of a back three, making him an ideal fit for Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
This is one example of how N’Dicka could line up at United if he made a move this summer, alongside potential summer arrivals Bryan Mbeumo and Viktor Gyokeres.
