21-year-old San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama seems to be going through his Piper Ratliff-in-Season 3-of-The White Lotus arc this offseason as the NBA All-Star has bee spotted with a shaved head at the at the Shaolin Temple in Zhengzhou, China.
For those who have been paying close attention to Wemby during his career so far, though, him popping up at a monk temple in China isn’t all that surprising as the young Frenchman has also seemed to be quite introspective, once saying during an interview, “At the end of the day, I’m just a human being. Or… am I?”.
He’s also been seen popping up in Washington Square Park in Manhattan to play chess and is know to be a fan of fantasy novels and classical music.
Wemby’s quest for self-discovery has seemingly led him to the Far East, where photos show him sporting a completely shaved head, leading some NBA fans to joke that he’s doing a “Doctor Strange side quest.”
This mf Wemby had one freak injury stop him from making the playoffs and went on the Doctor Strange path 😭 https://t.co/w17PWUOOno

it's so beautiful that nba players still do insane side quests sometimes. like this is a 1980s or 90s level side quest. we haven't seen side quests like this in forever https://t.co/gG719coxKm

During his second season in the NBA, Wemby missed about half of the season (he played in 46 games) due to injury. In the games he did play, he averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
