'My real passion'– Man Utd legend shares powerful 11-word message that he heard near end of his career, he now breaks his silence

Former Manchester United and England superstar David Beckham admitted that he “never really” wanted to pursue one avenue, despite being presented with the opportunity to do so.

David Beckham rose to superstardom during his prolific playing career at Manchester United and the 50-year-old enjoyed incredible success at Old Trafford as a player.

The former England captain rose through the ranks of the United youth academy in the 1990s and broke into the United first-team squad under Sir Alex Ferguson.

One of United’s ‘Class of ‘92’ breakout stars, Beckham went on to make 394 appearances for the Red Devils and he scored 85 times and registered 121 assists.

The United legend lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups before he left Old Trafford and signed for Real Madrid in 2003.

Beckham, who is one of United’s iconic No 7 shirt recipients, also played a key role in lifting a continental treble under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 1998-99 season.

Man Utd icon David Beckham sets the record straight on never becoming a coach or manager after his playing career

David Beckham’s superstar success in football has led to the former Manchester United superstar securing different opportunities, including work in modelling.

The ex-England skipper is also the co-owner and president of MLS outfit Inter Miami and Beckham is a co-owner of Salford City with fellow United legend Gary Neville.

Despite his success as both a businessman in football and away from it in other opportunities, Beckham never stepped into the dugout as a manager.

The former Real Madrid and United winger insisted that pursuing a career as a coach or as a manager was not part of his plans once he retired from football.

“To be honest, I never wanted to be a coach,” he said on his CBS programme, as per The Daily Mail.

“I love coaching kids in the academy. That’s my real passion.

“But I’ve never really wanted to be a manager. I’ve never really wanted to coach at this level.

“I think I could be a good coach, but I don’t know. I do have the knowledge, but I’ve never been a coach.”

Man Utd legend David Beckham opens up on the offer he received from the FA about being a future England manager

Beckham was capped 115 times for his country and the former Paris Saint-Germain player represented England at both World Cups and European Championships.

The former England international has claimed that the Football Association (FA) had tipped him as a future Three Lions head coach back in 2010 after the World Cup.

“We had just landed on the way back from the World Cup in Germany when I missed out, because I ruptured my Achilles playing for AC Milan,” Beckham said.

“And on the plane on the way back, someone from the FA came up to me and said, ‘Do your badges, because we want you to take over England.’”

Beckham’s prolific playing career came to an end in 2013 after the United legend’s brief spell with Ligue 1 outfit PSG.
