Despite being aware how difficult a deal will be for them to agree, Real Betis are showing real belief in their efforts to get Anthony back from Manchester United this summer.
The Brazilian moved to Betis on loan in the January transfer window and arguably played the best football of his career in a short stint with the Seville club. He’s been very happy in the Spanish city, and his performances on the pitch have seen him return to the national team under Carlo Ancelotti.
[ABC Sevilla](https://www.abc.es/deportes/alfinaldelapalmera/fichajes-betis/betis-viaja-manchester-reunirse-united-antony-20250610103936-nts.html) now report Real Betis are making real efforts to agree a deal with Manchester United.
Betis officials are said to have travelled to Manchester United for talks today, in the hope they can convince the Premier League club to sanction a new loan for the attacker. The hope is that Antony’s performances on loan for Betis in the recently concluded season have shown the Red Devils his value could rise higher if he’s allowed to return for another.
Manchester United are said to want €40m, but Real Betis aren’t willing, and potentially aren’t able, to pay that. Therefore, a loan with a purchase option or obligation is a possibility.
However, from the perspective of Ruben Amorim’s side, whilst it’s true Antony’s value may rise further with another season of good form, it’s also possible that patch of great matches comes to an end. Or that the 25-year-old picks up an injury, or that his complicated personal past catches up with him again.
It’s a risk they’d surely prefer to avoid if there’s other options.
