Villarreal striker Thierno Barry may sign for Everton this summer transfer window as David Moyes looks for a new centre-forward.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of June, and the Toffees could possibly be without him as they move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the start of next season.

Moyes’ team have been linked with Barry, with the 22-year-old emerging as a top target for the Blues this summer.

The French national has enjoyed a decent debut season at the La Liga outfit, scoring 11 league goals, but whether he could have the chance of representing the Merseyside outfit in the Premier League soon remains to be seen.

Villarreal in no rush to sell Barry as Everton sounded out by agents

Barry’s agents have been involved as they try to secure a firm offer from the Toffees, according to El Periodico Mediterraneo.

The news outlet reports (10 June) the Blues’ interest in the 22-year-old are merely sounding-outs, with Villarreal aware of it.

Barry’s La Liga record this season.

It’s been claimed that the Spanish club are in no rush to sell the French youngster, and the Merseyside outfit will have to pay or come close to his release clause, which is around £33million.

The report seems to suggest Moyes’ team don’t seem to have a concrete interest in the centre-forward for now, with his representatives pushing the rumours, but the situation is surely one to keep an eye on.

Moyes looking for new striker at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Moyes wanted Liam Delap in the summer transfer window from Ipswich Town, but the ex-Manchester City ace has joined Chelsea instead.

Beto was relied on by the Scottish manager after his return to Goodison Park, but fans don’t trust the Guinea-Bissau striker to be the first choice if the Toffees want to make progress in the upcoming campaign.

Armando Broja’s loan spell from Chelsea was also underwhelming, with the Albania international spending most of his time on the sidelines.

Everton have a significant task ahead of them this summer, as they need to sign a reliable goalscorer.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) have done exceptionally well since taking over from Farhad Moshiri, but their ambitions will be evident with what they do in the coming months.

Calvert-Lewin and Yousseff Chermiti have been injury-prone during their time at Goodison Park, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Blues moving on from them.

With multiple attacking exits potentially on the cards, the Toffees will arguably need to sign more than one number nine for a competitive squad.

Barry looks to be a promising talent, but the Merseyside outfit should prioritise signing a reliable goalscorer before pursuing prospects.
