Patty Mills has spent 15 seasons in the NBA, and his time playing professional basketball may have come to an end.
But that doesn’t mean he is leaving the sport behind.
In fact, Mills has a new job that is all about basketball.
According to Michael Scotto, via Legion Hoops, Mills has been named the University of Hawaii Men’s basketball general manager.

This is a brand new role for the school, but they knew that if they had someone as talented as Mills on board, they needed to take full advantage of that.
During his many seasons in the league, Mills played for the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, Utah Jazz, and finally the Los Angeles Clippers.
His time with the Spurs was most impressive, and he was part of the championship squad that won a title in 2014.
Mills gained the respect of the rest of the league and created close relationships with many of his teammates and even his opponents.
In his new job, he will support the young students who are trying to become better basketball players.
He will also work with the community and help with engagement and fundraising.
Mills is a native of Australia but spent many of his offseasons in Hawaii, so he knows the area well.
Although he is taking on this position, Mills hasn’t officially retired from the league, but it seems increasingly certain that he won’t be back.
Could he juggle this job and a role in the NBA?
It’s possible, but it just doesn’t seem very likely.
