**PITTSBURGH --** [Pittsburgh Steelers](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/) defensive tackle [Yahya Black](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/2025/04/pittsburgh-steelers-select-iowa-dt-yahya-black-in-fifth-round-of-nfl-draft.html) comes in as a rookie with a lot of questions about exactly where he will be taking his snaps. Black said at rookie minicamp he was not sure where he would play.
However, defensive line coach Karl Dunbar says Black can play all over the line, but is working currently at 4i, which is the inside shade of the offensive tackle.
“He can play all over the defensive line,” Dunbar said. “You know, he’ll play over the center, he’ll play at 4i. Right now, he is working at 4i, but we think he can play all over the place.”
In the long term, Black is a nose tackle type the team saw down at the Senior Bowl. A strong player, he can play anywhere from 0-technique to 4i, and he is a perfect fit for the Steelers’ defense. He will join Logan Lee on the defense and is now the third Hawkeye to join the Steelers after the team picked running back Kaleb Johnson in the third round.
Dunbar added that the team is still rounding out Black’s pass rush repertoire, but they think he is an instant impact as a run defender for a team that stomped on last year down the stretch.
