Liverpool have one very in-demand star. The race for his signature is now seriously heating up.
What will happen with Luis Diaz this summer? The Colombian is coming off the back of his best season yet at Liverpool but his future remains incredibly uncertain.
EXCLUSIVE: Wonderkid will join Liverpool first team in pre-season
Diaz is still on his initial contract signed back in 2022. There haven't been any improvements or little boosts to his pay - something that's very unlike Liverpool.
Interestingly, there don't appear to be any attempts to change that, either. The Times reports that Liverpool don't have any plans to give Diaz a new contract, despite him entering the final two years this summer.
It opens the door for a transfer, given this is the final summer where Liverpool can secure 'full' value for Diaz. That value will naturally drop with one year left in 2026.
Naturally, then, teams are starting to line up.
Luis Diaz race heats up
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are 'all-in' on Luis Diaz. They've decided he's the top target for the summer, with a move for Nico Williams taking less precedence.
Now, whether they can actually sign him is another matter. Liverpool are not going to sell cheap, especially with talk that Al-Nassr are also looking to spend big on Diaz.
The fact there's solid competition for Diaz is exactly what Liverpool want, of course. The Reds will only sell the Colombian if they receive a massive offer - the duelling parties increases that chance.
Especially given the names. Barcelona will attract Diaz and so Al-Nassr will need to blow the Catalonians out of the water if they're to get him.
Doing so could make this a deal mega-money deal and one pushing those numbers up towards £70m or £80m. Exactly what Liverpool need to help fund deals for not only Diaz's potential replacement but also Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.
