Leeds United are facing the possibility of going into pre season short on depth in some key areas of the squad. So far, it looks like the club is focused on moving players out.

Just last week, it was reported that Illan Meslier, Darko Gyabi, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt will all be made available for sale.

But in more worrying news, a deal has yet to be reached for Sam Byram and Junior Firpo. The Whites announced that they would hold talks with the duo, but no deal has been reached so far. When it comes to Byram, the defender has indicated that he would be keen on continuing at Elland Road.

The issue is with Junior Firpo. The 28-year old has been linked with multiple clubs this summer. His agency got to work immediately the Championship season ended, looking for moves for their client. And now, it looks like Firpo has multiple deals lined up for him. His time at Leeds United may be over.

This has sparked Leeds’ search for a new left back. With Byram’s future also unknown, there is a very real prospect the club enter pre season with just two first team fullbacks. According to Alex Crook, Leeds have made an enquiry for Aston Villa left back Alex Moreno.

The left back was loaned out after falling out of favour with Unai Emery, and could look for a move this summer. £5million is expected to be enough to complete a deal, with Villa walking the PSR tightrope.

The club has finally moved on from Firpo

It looks like Leeds have finally moved on from Junior Firpo. Waiting on him to sign a new deal was just a waste of time. He has showed this whole summer that the club was not his first choice. Getting Moreno would be a solid signing; he comes with quality and experience for the role.
