The New York Jets have moved on from Aaron Rodgers. The failed experiment with the future Pro Football Hall of Famer is now behind the Jets, who will have a new starting quarterback in the form of former Ohio State Buckeyes star Justin Fields.
After a one-season stop in 2024 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Fields signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets in the offseason, with New York hoping to be the team to unlock the true potential of the dual-threat quarterback in the pros.
The Jets won five games with Rodgers in 2024, which could be the benchmark target for them with Fields in the coming season. Last year, Fields began as the Steelers’ starting QB while waiting for Wilson to come back from a calf injury. In 10 appearances, including six starts, for the Steelers, Fields, who was a first-round pick by the Chicago Bears at the 2021 NFL draft, passed for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns with an interception on a 65.8 percent completion rate.
