'Insane' Liverpool defender now has ‘strong interest’ from English club, it’s not Quansah

Arne Slot has already seen a lot of changes happen to his team, and the summer transfer window is not even fully open.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has chosen to join Real Madrid, while Luis Diaz is attracting interest from Barcelona.

Liverpool have also welcomed Jeremie Frimpong to their ranks to replace Alexander-Arnold as well as to offer some additional support to Mohamed Salah at right wing.

And, with the first transfer window of the summer set to close at 7 pm on 10 June, it’s not a surprise to see rumours continuing to circulate.

Nat Phillips could be about to leave Liverpool

Liverpool’s defence is the area of their team which feels the most likely to have multiple changes made to it this summer.

Caoimhin Kelleher and Alexander-Arnold have already exited Anfield, and others such as Jarell Quansah are being linked with multiple Bundesliga clubs.

One player, however, who’s never seemed to put a foot wrong or complain about a lack of game time is Nat Phillips.

The centre-back became a cult hero for Liverpool when they went through their massive defensive injury crisis a few seasons ago, with Jurgen Klopp dubbing his performances “absolutely insane”.

Since then, he’s played the odd game for the Anfield outfit but has more often plied his trade for other clubs on loan.

And now, according to a report from The Athletic, it seems as if the centre-back’s time in Merseyside is over.

That’s because Phillips is now having a ‘strong interest’ shown in him by West Brom, with the report also adding that other Championship outfits are also interested in acquiring his services this summer.

Nat Phillips should be allowed to leave Liverpool

The fact that Quansah did not get much game time last season is likely a sign of things to come.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the young Englishman had his fair share of games, but this season, Slot has stuck to his guns and has more or less started the same 11 players each week.

Even though Phillips’ time with Liverpool has been more than memorable, it is highly unlikely that he will get the game time he wants and deserves at Anfield.

The centre-back is now 28 years old and is entering the prime of his career.

So, as Phillips enters the final year of his Liverpool contract, it makes sense for Slot to earn some money from his sale and allow him to prove his worth to a club regularly.
