On Wednesday, June 11, The String Cheese Incident’s Michael Kang will offer a musical display that promotes unity and a nod of patriotism by singing the National Anthem before tip-off at game three of the NBA finals. Tomorrow’s faceoff will see the hosts, the Indiana Pacers, go head-to-head with the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Kang’s appearance on the court arrives prior to the onset of the beloved jamgrass outfit’s Summer Tour, which begins on Thursday, June 12 at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine. The band will continue their road commitments with a follow-up in Swanzey, N.H., before dropping down the coast for a pair of festivals: All Good Now (June 14) and North to Shore Festival (June 17).
The band will proceed into the depths of the Midwest and Southern region of the country, delivering their blend of traditional music and elaborate originals. Along the way, SCI will share bills with select acts, including The Wood Brothers (July 18), Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country (July 19), The Del McCoury Band (August 15), and STS9 (August 16).
