Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has already told Leeds United what they could expect from reported transfer target Alex Moreno.
Daniel Farke's side are preparing for life back in the top-flight - after storming to glory in the Championship last season. They secured automatic promotion alongside Burnley, having amassed a staggering 100 points over the course of the campaign, but edged their rivals to the title on goal difference.
The Premier League will present them a different challenge, though, meaning that the Whites must build a squad capable of competing at the highest level. Villa's Moreno has emerged as a potential left-back target this summer, with the player expected to leave the Midlands club permanently.
Moreno signed for Villa from La Liga side Real Betis in January 2023 and he has made just shy of 50 appearances. The 32-year-old spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he featured 19 times across all competitions.
According to BirminghamLive, Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland have all enquired about the defender, while clubs in Spain are also said to be interested. It has been claimed Villa will seek a fee in the region of £5million, as Moreno is entering the final year of his deal at Villa Park.
Shortly after Moreno's switch to Villa in 2023, Emery discussed the player's progress and how he had adapted to life in England. While outlining the left-back's qualities, the Spaniard also noted areas where he initially struggled, potentially giving Leeds a clear indication of what to expect should a deal materialise this summer.
"Alex Moreno is improving and he's adapting well," Emery said in March 2023. "At the beginning, he was struggling because of the rhythm here was hard.
"I remember the first match against Leeds when he came in for the injured Lucas Digne, he struggled a bit with the rhythm. Progressively, his adaptation has been very, very quick.
"Now, what we've decided for him - because of his quality that I knew before from Spain - I like sometimes the one side using the right or left-back higher. We are doing it with the left-back higher than the right-back because to like use Moreno higher and more aggressive in attack."
