In the whirlwind of the summer transfer window, Viktor Gyokeres is a name that's currently on fire.
The Swedish strike has become the talk of the town with several Premier League big guns eyeing him up.
Manchester United, now managed by Gyokeres' old gaffer Ruben Amorim, have emerged as the favourites to bag the 27-year-old, thanks to his impressive tally of 97 goals in 102 matches for the Portuguese champs.
Arsenal, Chelsea and even Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal have been mentioned, but a move to Old Trafford seems most likely at this point, particularly as Arsenal are also keen on Benjamin Sesko and Chelsea are chasing Hugo Ekitike, having already nabbed Liam Delap for Stamford Bridge.
However, a win for United isn't a sure thing, with lingering doubts, internal squabbles and outside interest all posing potential obstacles to what would be a massive score for the Red Devils – especially considering their rocky performance in 2024/25.

Gyokeres' patience with Sporting has reached its limit, with rumours suggesting the forward is 'livid' over a broken promise, reports the Mirror.
He's got an £84m release clause in his contract, but it's believed a gentlemen's agreement was struck that would let Gyokeres exit this summer if a bid of roughly £60m came in.
However, Portuguese publication Record reports that Sporting are now dragging their feet on honouring this deal, leaving Gyokeres feeling double-crossed.

In a daring decision, Gyokeres has knocked back an eye-watering £30m-a-year deal from Saudi club Al-Hilal, highlighting his drive to play at the top level.
The hefty offer, which would have catapulted him among the world's highest earners, was turned down as Gyokeres is keen on a move to one of Europe's elite leagues.
Al-Hilal, on the hunt for a big-name striker, set their sights on Gyokeres after their high-profile chase for Victor Osimhen fell through last week.

United's chase for Gyokeres could have been wrapped up by now if the club had secured a Champions League spot.
The Swedish striker was reportedly all set to sign for the Red Devils if they had clinched a Champions League berth by beating Tottenham in the Europa League final. But United's defeat in Bilbao threw a spanner in the works.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano once touted a "99% chance", yet with United's eyes on Matheus Cunha, the deal's certainty has taken a hit.

As the transfer window's first big deadline looms on Tuesday night, Gyokeres' next chapter is still up in the air.
United's chances hinge on Amorim's tight bond with the lad and their bold plans up front, already boasting new boy Matheus Cunha and possibly Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo joining the ranks.
But don't bet against a last-minute curveball. Arsenal might jump back into the fray if their chase for Sesko hits the rocks, and he opts for Al-Hilal's megabucks.
