Ben Foster has just reminded Newcastle United fans exactly why Bryan Mbeumo was their top transfer target.
That is no longer the case, with Newcastle deciding that Mbeumo is too expensive. Geordie Boot Boys understand that the Magpies did not want to meet Brentford’s asking price of more than £60million, with the 25-year-old now favouring a move to Manchester United.
Mbeumo’s wage demands have softened the blow for Toon fans, who are waiting to see who Eddie Howe will bring in instead of the Cameroon international. Newcastle are interested in Anthony Elanga, but it will be difficult to sign him from Nottingham Forest.
If money was not a problem, Mbeumo would be the player that Newcastle United buy. He is ideal for what Howe is looking for, and Ben Foster has summed up exactly why.

Ben Foster explains ‘how good’ Bryan Mbeumo is
During the latest episode of the Football Fill-In on Ben Foster’s YouTube channel, the former Premier League goalkeeper explained why Mbeumo is such a special talent.
“Do you know what the beauty of Bryan Mbeumo is, right?” Foster said.
“Nobody here would question him at all. I’m not questioning Bryan Mbeumo about his ability, about his mentality, about what he is as a person. I’ve got no worries. There is nothing to show me I should have any worries about him.
“Whoever he goes and plays for, I think he would improve. I think he gets into the starting lineup. He’s got a proven record of being fit and scoring goals. He could get into, I’m not joking, pretty much all 20 Premier League teams, and I think he starts. That’s how good I think Mbeumo is.”

Newcastle United criticised for Bryan Mbeumo decision
With Newcastle United stepping away from the race, it is Manchester United who are in pole position to land Mbeumo.
The Magpies have decided that they are not willing to pay Mbeumo’s asking price, which has surprised TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.
“He was their number one target and they should be getting him,” he told Geordie Boot Boys.
“They should have done more to get him, in my opinion. Players want to feel wanted.
“We knew in February that he was Newcastle’s top target, so why suddenly are they balking at his asking price.”
There appears to be a reluctance within St James’ Park to pay the inflated fees that Premier League players are commanding. This stance has angered Newcastle United fans, many of whom are bemused as to why they continue to target these players despite being fully aware that they will have to pay a premium.
