Shane Bowen enters his second season as Giants defensive coordinator this year with an improved unit after a busy winter for general manager Joe Schoen.
One notable departure, however, was named the team’s biggest loss of the offseason by Jared Dubin of CBS Sports: safety Jason Pinnock.
“Pinnock played 95% of New York’s defensive snaps in each of the last two seasons,” Dubin wrote. “He was seemingly less effective the more he got on the field, though, so the Giants replaced him with the more versatile Jevon Holland, and that should help improve Shane Bowen’s defense.”
Pinnock joined the San Francisco 49ers this offseason on a $2.2 million deal.
Pinnock was a fifth-round draft pick of the Jets in 2021 and was waived during roster cuts in 2022. He was claimed by the Giants the next day and spent three years in East Rutherford.
In that time, Pinnock appeared in 46 games and recorded two interceptions, 6.5 sacks, 10 passes defended and 12 tackles for loss.
