Multiple New York Jets reporters have indicated that the culture around the team has already shown signed of improvement now that Aaron Rodgers is no longer with the team. Rodgers signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers last weekend.
After two disastrous seasons in New York — in which he missed 2023 with an Achilles tear and spent 2024 losing games and making controversial headlines — Aaron Rodgers has now taken his circus to Pittsburgh, meaning the Jets are free of his aura, and vice versa.
According to plugged-in Jets reporters, the culture around the Jets has already seen an improvement now that Rodgers is out of town and new head coach Aaron Glenn is in charge.
Both The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini and Zack Rosenblatt made comments around the cultural changes in the organization in regards to Pro Bowels Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson showing up at minicamp despite seeking a new deal — while ESPN’s Rich Cimini flat-out referenced Rodgers decision to skip minicamp last year and take a trip to Egypt.

Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson both desire (and deserve) new contracts but both have been showing up all offseason. Reflects well on them — and on the culture Aaron Glenn is building too. https://t.co/VcXpTtiM8U

The Jets are now turning to former first round pick Justin Fields as their quarterback, whom the Chicago Bears selected out of Ohio State University with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Fields, 26-years-old, started 28 games for the Bears from 2021 to 2023, compiling a record of 10-28. He then spent 2024 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting 6 games and going 4-2 before being benched in favor of Russell Wilson.
As the football gods would have it, the Jets and the Steelers will kick off their 2025 seasons against each other in a Week 1 matchup at MetLife Stadium.
