Newcastle United hold no interest in £100m winger despite persistent rumours

· 10 June 2025, 20:00

**Sometimes, if you hear a lie often enough, you start to believe it, which is why transfer journalists will continue to peddle their lies in the hope that they get scooped up and reported as truth.**

Newcastle United fans saw this in action throughout the season when it came to Alexander Isak and a reported move to Arsenal. There was absolutely no truth in the idea that the Sweden star was heading to London, but it took an awful long time for the rumour to go away, and Arsenal fans were convinced Isak was Emirates-bound.

On the flip side, Newcastle have been linked with a move for Jack Grealish for so long now that even we were starting to think there was some truth to the rumours.

Jack Grealish looks to be heading out of Manchester City as the club are finally set to admit defeat in their £100 million project.

Newcastle want to retain Joe Willock

Newcastle United are not interested in signing Jack Grealish

------------------------------------------------------------

Grealish's £300k-a-week wages and £100 million price tag will make it a nightmare for City to move the winger on this summer, unless serious compromises are willing to be made, which is why all the reports linking Newcastle with a move for Grealish suggested it would be a loan move or nothing.

Thankfully, [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6413081/2025/06/10/arsenal-transfer-latest-news-manchester-united-liverpool-chelsea-barcelona-real-madrid/?s) has injected some common sense into the world today with their rundown of likely transfer activity at Newcastle.

They claim that the Magpies have no interest in Jack Grealish despite all the rumours. They also say that Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noni Madueke are players the club is linked with, which has no basis in reality.

Some rumours appear to have truth to them

-----------------------------------------

So, if we aren't interested in those three players, where does the truth lie? James Trafford and Anthony Elanga are strong rumours based in reality, especially now that we know Newcastle and Burnley have opened talks around Trafford.

Other winger options if a bid for Elanga should fail are Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus. Also, João Pedro is being reported as a real target, too.

In terms of exits, The Athletic says that Newcastle will listen to offers for Sean Longstaff but want to retain Joe Willock.
