Since arriving from Inter Milan in 2023, Onana has endured a turbulent time between the posts, struggling to find consistency and form.
The Cameroonian’s performances have drawn criticism from both pundits and supporters.
Many have questioned whether he’s the long-term answer in goal for United.

Espanyol’s Joan Garcia had emerged as a serious candidate for the No.1 spot.
United were heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old throughout 2025.
The club see Garcia as a reliable and high-upside option amid interest from several Premier League rivals.
However, Fabrizio Romano on X has confirmed that Garcia is now set to join Barcelona.
Romano stated that the documents are in place and a five-year contract has been agreed.
The Spanish giants will activate the goalkeeper’s €25 million release clause in the coming days.
The move is expected to be finalised next week.

It’s a blow to United, who were preparing talks with the player’s camp just weeks ago.
However Garcia’s preference for La Liga and Champions League football made Barcelona favourites.
