Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho
All of Aston Villa, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen are monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation. United are known to be open to selling Garnacho as they seek to escalate an extreme overhaul of the squad this summer.
The Argentina star is seen as one of a few properly saleable players, who could command a high price. Garnacho cast doubt on his own future after the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao, stating: “I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next”.
A move to Napoli fell down due to a price difference in January, at the same time that a move to Chelsea was constantly mooted.
Both have been broached about a potential move. Aston Villa are a more surprise interest, but any activity would depend on whether they sell Morgan Rogers, who has his own interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Rayan Cherki has become Manchester City’s third signing in two days after finalising a €37m move from Lyon.
The midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical, and joins Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli in the new-look City squad. All three will be available to make their debuts at the Club World Cup, where City face Wydad AC, Al Ain and Juventus in Group G.
Cherki, whose price could rise depending on add-ons, scored 12 goals and recorded 20 assists in a breakthrough season for Lyon. He had the most assists in the Europa League, eight, as Lyon reached the quarter-finals.
City have also agreed a €55m fee with AC Milan for Tijjani Reijnders as Guardiola reshapes his midfield after the departure of Kevin De Bruyne. Should the Netherlands international arrive, their spending in 2025 will amount to almost €350m.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth have agreed a fee for Rennes left-back Adrien Truffer in a deal that is expected to pave the way for Milos Kerkez’s €50m move to Liverpool.
Truffert – a 23-year-old France international – has agreed personal terms over a deal to the Vitality Stadium and will undergo a medical later in the week. The defender is expected to cost around €18m and his place in Andoni Iraola’s squad will be as a like-for-like replacement for Kerkez, who has been a long-term target at Anfield.
