Over at Pro Football Focus, analyst Dalton Wasserman suggests Golden is the Packers’ biggest reason for optimism this season.

“Golden is the first wide receiver the Packers selected in the first round since 2002,” Wasserman writes for PFF. “And he should be just what the doctor ordered for their offense. He recorded a nearly perfect 99.6 deep PFF receiving grade at Texas last season.

“Not only should that skillset help Jordan Love, but it should open space for Green Bay’s other weapons underneath. That’s especially important for Love, whose 65.7 intermediate PFF passing grade placed him 35th out of 43 qualified quarterbacks last season.”

Golden’s speed is tantalizing given the Packers’ scheme and Love’s upside, and the fact that he caught 58 passes for 987 yards and nine touchdowns last season gives him the chance to ascend to the top of Green Bay’s depth chart and Love’s target hierarchy could could immediately boost his impact this season and beyond.
