All-Pro edge rusher Trey Hendrickson has a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals and he has a beef with them as well.
So, Hendrickson - who has recorded over 17 sacks in each of the last two seasons as who is this team's best defensive player - is holding out of mandatory minicamp in an angry protest.
What comes eventually with this latest push manifesting itself in him staying away from the Tuesday start of work?
Maybe he gets a trade.
Or maybe he gets $30 million per year.
Or maybe he caves on his vow to stay away for the entire year until he is treated in a way he views as fair.
And what comes now?
Fines. ... because this work is "mandatory.''
Hendrickson, is now 30 years old and he wants one more bite of the contractual apple as he insists he simply won't play for Cincy under the terms of his current deal, which calls for him to pocket $16 million this season.
So, for this mandatory minicamp from June 10 to 12 ... the CBA-dictated fines go exactly like this ...
Miss the 1st day and it's $17,462.
Miss the 2nd day and it's $34,925.
Miss the 3rd day and it's $52,381
Add it up and that is a total of $104,768 Hendrickson will lose this week, assuming he remains committed to his cause.
Is that $100,000 enough to sway him?
We bet not.
Does it even catch his attention?
As furious as he is at the circumstances ... we bet not.
