Leroy Sane is reportedly open to a move to Arsenal this summer as uncertainty continues to cloud his future at Bayern Munich. The Germany international, whose contract expires at the end of June, has yet to agree new terms with the Bundesliga giants and could become a free agent on July 1.

According to German outlet BILD, the 29-year-old winger is “very interested” in joining Arsenal, with a move to London said to be appealing to both Sane and his wife, Candice. The Gunners are among several clubs monitoring the situation closely as Sane considers his next step.

Sane joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2020 for a fee that could rise to £55 million and has since been a key figure at the Allianz Arena. He has made at least 40 appearances in each of his four seasons at the club, playing an instrumental role in their run of four consecutive Bundesliga titles.

Despite his importance, Bayern have so far failed to tie him down to a new deal. The club has offered a three-year contract extension, but on reduced financial terms, a proposal Sane has turned down. Unwilling to accept a pay cut, the winger has now attracted interest from a host of top European sides.

While Premier League rivals Tottenham and Newcastle have been credited with interest, Arsenal appear to be leading the race. A potential move would reunite Sane with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, who previously worked with the winger during their time together at Manchester City, when Arteta was Pep Guardiola’s assistant.

Other suitors include Saudi Arabian clubs and Serie A champions Napoli, but BILD reports that those options are currently less attractive to the player. Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also believed to be preparing lucrative offers to lure Sane, but his preference appears to lie in England.

With the Club World Cup kicking off this weekend, Sane is not expected to make a decision before the tournament begins. Bayern are even considering offering him a short-term contract extension to ensure his availability for the competition in the United States, despite the risk of losing him soon after.
