Chelsea make decision on future of resurgent 25-year-old homegrown player amid Serie A links

Napoli have received a massive blow in their pursuit of Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah as the Blues are unwilling to sell.

According to a report from Football Insider, Chelsea have no intentions of sanctioning the departure of Trevoh Chalobah, who was one of their standout performers in the second half of the 2024/25 season. The Englishman has revived his career at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca and he is keen on having him around.

Chalobah has come up the ranks at Chelsea and has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2021. While the homegrown defender did have an impressive start to life at the London club, he struggled for consistency. At one point in time, he was no longer an important part of their plans.

The Blues were even considering selling him last summer, but they eventually decided to send him out on loan to Crystal Palace. The 25-year-old certainly made the most out of his loan spell. He was involved in a total of 14 matches for the Eagles in the first half of the season and even bagged three goals.

Following his impressive performances, Chelsea decided to recall him mid-season following serious injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile. Enzo Maresca was left short of options at the back, and he decided to give the English centre-back a run in the first team.

Resurgent Chalobah is not for sale

Trevoh Chalobah certainly made the most out of the opportunity as he went on to feature in 19 matches in the second half of the season. He ended up being one of their standout performers and played a big part in helping Chelsea secure UEFA Champions League football for the 2025/26 season.

The player’s performances have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs, and Napoli are one of them. The Serie A champions want more quality as well as depth at the back, and they consider the 25-year-old an ideal fit for their project as well as their system.

However, the Partenopei will struggle to strike a deal with the Blues, as they do not want to sell him. The West London club are looking to sign a new central defender, and they are willing to offload a few from their squad, but he is not one of them.

While Chalobah’s departure could provide a significant financial boost, as it would represent pure profit given he is an academy product. The homegrown defender has proven to be a reliable option for Maresca, who does not want to sell him.
