Bayern winger lets contract deadline pass amid Arsenal interest

Leroy Sane has let his contract ultimatum from Bayern Munich expire, raising hopes of a move, but he’ll keep playing for the team in the meantime.

Christian Falk reports that Leroy Sane has already let Bayern Munich’s ultimatum on his contract pass, with his deal set to expire at the end of the month and an unsigned offer to extend on the table.

Falk writes that Sane will need more time to consider his future, and a Premier League move remains a realistic option for the winger.

Sane is now unlikely to make a decision before the Club World Cup, so Bayern will bring him along to participate in at least the group stages of the competition.

Arsenal remain interested in Sane, according to the same report, and they’ve already fought off competition from Tottenham Hotspur. If Sane does leave Bayern, the Gunners are best placed to secure his signature.

Falk claims Sane would be keen on a move to London, which is also the preferred destination of his partner.

Bayern seem to be preparing for Sane’s potential departure, looking at the likes of Bradley Barcola and Nico Williams. But Sane’s exit is far from confirmed, and he could still extend to stay where he is.

Bayern face Auckland City, Boca Juniors, and Benfica in the Club World Cup group stage, with all three games taking place over the next fortnight. If they make it, Bayern will play in the round-of-16 on June 28th or 29th.

After that, Sane will have to make a decision on his future, as his contract expires on June 30th. He can’t play in the quarter-finals and beyond unless he signs a new deal.
