BYU guard Egor Demin received an invite to attend the NBA Draft and sit in the green room, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported Tuesday. Givony reported that Egor was one of thirteen players invited in the first wave of invites.
Egor being invited in this first wave is meaningful. The NBA often sends out 20-25 green room invites, but do so in waves. The first wave of invites are the players most likely to be picked in the lottery. The process of inviting players to the green room is done with feedback from NBA General Managers and Team Presidents, suggesting that many NBA executives view Egor as a lottery pick.
The first round of the NBA Draft is Wednesday, June 25. ESPN’s mock draft following the NBA Draft combine had Egor going 11 overall to the Portland Trailblazers. Egor had a strong NBA Draft combine and will be BYU’s first NBA Draft selection since Jimmer Fredette was picked 10 overall in the 2011 draft.
