The Dallas Cowboys have put together an impressive offseason, but two big names on the defensive side of the ball have popped up as potential options for the team.

Dallas could benefit from additional help in the secondary, and both Jaire Alexander and Miami Dolphins cornerback are viewed as potential fits for the team entering next season.

As previouslyreported byThe Dallas Express, Alexander was viewed as an unlikely but meaningful trade option for the team to add additional support in the secondary.

He is now a free agent after the Green Bay Packers decided torelease him on Monday in favor of additional cap space.

Alexander is just 28 years old and is one of the most effective cornerbacks in the league when healthy, picking up twointerceptions last season despite missing most of the year with injuries.

The Packers likely would have kept Alexander on the roster if the two sides could have agreed on a restructured contract, but $17.5 million was reportedly too much for the franchise to bear.

Alexander’s health is the biggest concern, as he has struggled to stay on the field consistently over the last four seasons.

Alexander has played just 14 games over the last two seasons, a concerning trend for a player who has dealt with significant injuries in his career.

Alexander’s last full season was in 2022, when he played 16 games, though he also played just four games in the 2021 season.

Alexander is likely to be the hottest cornerback option on the market, meaning Dallas could shift its attention to another high-profile name if the team wants to add to the cornerback room before the season.

Miami is currently looking for a trade partner toacquire Ramsey, with the Cowboys standing out as one of the biggest potential suitors for his services.

Although Ramsey is not nearly as effective as in previous seasons, he is still one of the best cornerbacks available.

Ramsey played all 17 games for the Dolphins last season andmanaged to collect 60 total tackles and two interceptions.

The biggest issue with acquiring Ramsey is that the Cowboys would have to sacrifice draft capital, a decision the team does not take lightly for older players.

Dallas would likely have to send Miami a future sixth- or even seventh-round draft selection while taking on the majority of Ramsey’s contract, and there is no guarantee that Dallas would want to make this move.

There have also been rumors that Ramsey could make a change into the safety position, but there has not been any significant discussion to confirm whether this is a possibility.

Regardless, Dallas should continue attempting to acquire talent, as the schedule is expected to be one of the most difficult in the league next season.
