Victor Osimhen is reportedly ‘dreaming’ of signing for Manchester United after rejecting a lucrative offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Victor Osimhen could be angling a move to the Premier League with Manchester United the club he ‘dreams’ of playing for. The Nigerian striker is on the market and has tremendous interest from top clubs as he has seemingly decided to stay in Europe after snubbing a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal.
Victor Osimhen has some curious onlookers who are keen to understand the striker’s intentions ahead of an exit from Napoli. He has a €75 million release clause that seems viable for multiple suitors, although there are considerable doubts about his potential salary demands, which may be a spot of bother to some of the suitors.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen rejected a sizeable offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal and insisted the deal is completely off as things stand. The Middle Eastern side made multiple attempts by way of lucrative offers to lure the striker, as his rejection of those proposals potentially indicates his desire to continue in Europe.
He has no future at Napoli and spent the previous campaign on loan at Galatasaray, scoring and assisting 45 times across all competitions. He remains one of the most lethal centre-forwards in Europe, and there are a lot of suitors, with reports stating Liverpool are also looking at him while Galatasaray are also keen to lure him back to Istanbul.
Manchester United also made a tentative approach to understand his willingness to make the move. The Red Devils missed out on Liam Delap to Chelsea recently, and are in the market for a new striker ahead of the new season. Viktor Gyokeres is also high on their list, with a move for the Swede very much a possibility.
However, Osimhen packs pedigree and tremendous experience in the top five leagues, which may see Manchester United place him higher on their list than Gyokeres. While a move may also depend on Napoli’s demands on how they want the release clause paid, the bigger issue might linger around the 45 G/A striker’s wage demands.
Victor Osimhen wants Manchester United move
Osimhen had indicated a desire to play in the Premier League before, and that may be the case now as he reported ‘dreams’ of playing for Manchester United. There’s a clear need for a new striker at Old Trafford as the club are looking to get rid of Rasmus Hojlund.
The report states a possibility of Manchester United including someone like the Danish striker or even Joshua Zirkzee as part of the deal to reduce the asking price. With Osimhen, the Red Devils will be a threat considering they have already signed Matheus Cunha and are closing in on Bryan Mbeumo, which does make their front three for the new season look formidable.
