During the 2025 offseason, the New England Patriots have one overarching goal: to get Drake Maye help. After investing in the offensive line and the defensive side of the ball through the early part of free agency, they then splurged on wide receiver Stefon Diggs to be Maye's new number one option.
At the Patriots' mandatory minicamp, Diggs had his first chance to work alongside Maye and build up their chemistry. In an interview with reporters in the Patriots' practice facility, Diggs commented on Maye and what it's been like to work alongside him for this brief period.
Tom Carroll of WEEI shared the video of Diggs' comments on Maye after their first mandatory minicamp day together.
"I like him." Diggs said. "I can't say too much because I haven't been out there much. But personality-wise, he a dog. You can tell he's a dog from the get-go. I can see he's committed to the process. He wants to play well. I know he's been here all spring. So just to see him out there, he's been real helpful too,..."
Diggs' praise for Maye stems from Maye's mentality. He's a "dog" in Diggs' eyes, a huge compliment from a veteran player like Diggs. After working alongside incredible quarterbacks throughout his entire career, Diggs is viewing Maye as another one of the best quarterbacks he's going to play alongside.

In the buildup to the Patriots' mandatory minicamp, Diggs was surrounded by controversy after a video of him on a boat surfaced, which depicted Diggs handing out an unknown bag of something.
While nothing has since happened, there were a lot of questions surrounding Diggs' availability going forward. But he showed up to minicamp, and he's been building a rapport with his teammates, and evidently, has meshed well with Maye.
The Patriots are in the middle of a very important training camp. With a new coach in Mike Vrabel and a revamped roster from top to bottom, the Patriots have a lot to work on in the offseason.
One of the most important things the Patriots need to work on is the chemistry between Maye and his receivers. After these comments from Diggs, the connection between him and Maye is seemingly heading in the right direction.
