The Los Angeles Lakers won't be the only franchise that will be extremely active this summer once the NBA offseason officially kicks off.
As we've discussed ad nauseam, the Lakers will [look to address the center position](lasportshub.com/former-lakers-center-odds-returning-free-agency-increase-after-latest-report-01jxd65xxw03) among other areas of the roster through the draft, trades, and free agency. Bolstering the frontcourt is the top priority, but you can also never have enough perimeter shooting around players who demand as much defensive attention as LeBron James and Luka Doncic.
While it seems unlikely that a reunion will take place, a veteran who once called Los Angeles his basketball home is reportedly back on the trade market and could be moved sooner rather than later.
Former Lakers SG Jordan Clarkson on the Trade Block to Start Offseason
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jordan Clarkson has made a name for himself across the NBA for his ability to light up the scoreboard at a moment's notice. He is a "microwave-like" scorer off the bench and would fill a role on any contender needing some additional firepower for their second unit.
In a recent [piece for The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6399102/2025/06/03/whats-next-for-jazz-after-hiring-austin-ainge-as-president-of-basketball-operations/), Utah Jazz reporter Tony Jones touched on why one of the scenarios facing the franchise this offseason would make players like Clarkson much more available than they may have otherwise been. Austin Ainge will have some decisions to make about just what Utah's roster will look like moving forward, as tanking is not an option.
"Going the youth route at least puts trading Markkanen, along with players like Collin Sexton, John Collins and Jordan Clarkson, on the table. Sexton, Collins and Clarkson are familiar names in trade conversations, as the Jazz have explored deals involving them in the past."
Given the veteran is on an expiring contract for the 2025-26 season, there could be some very real interest throughout the league in acquiring Clarkson. Should Clarkson ultimately move on from Utah this summer, the former Lakers draft night acquisition would be on his fourth NBA franchise since entering the league in 2014.
For his career, Clarkson owns averages of 16 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in just over 27 minutes per game. During his tenure with the Purple and Gold, Clarkson's numbers lined up with his career averages as the former Missouri Tigers standout put up 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 28 minutes per game.
