Pistons Named Potential Suitor For Pacers Star Before Offseason

The Detroit Pistons enter the offseason looking to upgrade their roster around their star point guard Cade Cunningham to build off their impressive season.

Of course, the Pistons had a major turnaround this season as they went from having the worst record in the NBA over the prior two seasons to making the playoffs as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

While Detroit was ultimately eliminated in the first round by the New York Knicks, they proved that they are back as a contender after years of struggles.

Now the Pistons enter the offseason looking to build around their core of Cunningham, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren and they have been linked to many different players who would upgrade their roster.

Detroit was linked to another player recently as NBA insider Jeff Fischer reported that the Pistons are a potential suitor for Indiana Pacers star Myles Turner this summer.

Turner is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and while there have been reports that Indiana is going to do everything they can to re-sign him, another team like the Pistons could swoop in and steal him.

The 29-year-old center has spent his entire 10-year career in Indiana where he has played a key role in their success, especially on the defensive end.

Turner is a great scorer and rebounder but he is best known for his elite rim protection, which is something the Pistons could use alongside Duren in the frontcourt.

Of course, Turner is expected to draw a ton of interest from many teams this summer, including the Los Angeles Lakers, but the Pistons have enough cap space to make a move for him to upgrade their frontcourt.

If that ends up not being the case and he returns to Indiana, the Pistons still have enough cap space and tradeable assets to make a move to upgrade their roster as they try to make a deep playoff run next season.
