Less than ten days after conquering Europe, the Parisians are taking on a new summit: the Club World Cup. Luis Enrique's men head to California for an intense American trip. A new time zone, a new challenge, but the ambition remains: to continue making history.
Paris Saint-Germain have not had much time to savour their historic Champions League triumph before already looking towards a major new challenge. Less than ten days after their stunning 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the European final, the Rouge et Bleu flew to the United States on Tuesday 10 June to take part in the Club World Cup, a first in the club's history, from 15 June to 13 July. A rapid transition, but one that has become customary for a squad used to playing on all fronts.
The European champions are heading for California, where they will be based at the University of Irvine, south of Los Angeles. After an 11 hour and 30 minutes flight and a nine-hour time difference to digest, the Parisians are expected to hit the training pitches on Wednesday to begin their preparations. It is a quick turnaround, with some of the international players coming off a demanding international schedule, including the Nations League and 2026 World Cup qualifiers. But the objective is clear: to make Paris Saint-Germain shine on the world stage, just a few weeks after conquering Europe.
The club from the capital are in Group B and will make their competition debut on Sunday 15 June at 12pm local time (9pm in France) against Atlético de Madrid, at the legendary Rose Bowl Stadium. This will be followed by two other high-profile matches: against Brazil's Botafogo, on the night of 19-20 June at 3am, and against the Seattle Sounders on 23 June at 9pm. A new chapter begins for Luis Enrique's men, with the ambition of adding a world title to an already historic season. And while the challenge is immense, the Rouge et Bleu have proved this year that no mountain is too high...
