Former Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders stole the show today at Browns minicamp

It’s not every day you see a rookie quarterback casually uncork a 75-yard touchdown in NFL minicamp.

On Tuesday, Shedeur Sanders officially put the league on notice with the kind of throw you don’t expect from a rookie in early June. During 7-on-7 drills at Cleveland Browns minicamp, Sanders launched a 75-yard touchdown pass that sent a buzz through the Browns facility

This wasn’t just a nice completion in shorts. This was the highlight of the day. A deep bomb that showcases his arm strength, timing, and confidence.

Welcome to the NFL — Shedeur style

Tuesday marked the start of Cleveland’s three-day mandatory minicamp, and Sanders didn’t waste time making noise. First came the 75-yard bomb to Gage Larvadain. Then a crisp completion to Diontae Johnson in the same session.

Head coach Kevin Stefanskiexplained that these modified 7-on-7s — where offensive linemen line up as simulated defensive players — help quarterbacks feel the pocket without live defenders.

“Just trying to give them a little bit more of a visual,” Stefanski said. “This is one way we feel is valuable, and it’s also valuable for our offensive line... they can work their stunts and blitz pickups.”

For Sanders, it’s been about soaking it all in — NFL timing, NFL speed, NFL windows. And so far, it's looking good.

It wasn’t just the deep ball

According to ClevelandBrowns.com, Sanders took reps behind Dillon Gabriel in 11-on11 drills and handed off to rookie back Dylan Sampson for a big gain. On another rep, he calmly found a short check-down across the middle despite what would've been a sack. He capped that series with a nice sideline ball to WR Luke Floriea.

And in the red zone period? He stayed hot — connecting with Ahmani Marshall and Dylan Sampson on short throws, then hitting WR Kisean Johnson and Larvadain again for touchdowns.

He looks like he is playing with efficiency and confidence. But he's not jumping too far ahead.

"When it's time for me to play, then it's time for me to play. But I'm not looking too far into the future," he said after practice today. "I'm looking at every day in practice, because I had some misses out there today that we have to go in there and correct."

The best is still ahead

It’s early. Shedeur isn’t QB1 in Cleveland — not yet, anyway (wink, wink). But the momentum is real and it's happening.

He’s taken every rep in stride. He’s learning behind veterans. He’s earning trust from the coaching staff. And he keeps stacking big days like today, where he shocks everyone.

It’s only a matter of time before we see him take some serious snaps in preseason.

No one’s saying he’s taking the job tomorrow. But this is how it starts.
