Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of striking a deal with Brentford to secure Thomas Frank as their new head coach, potentially in time for this weekend's match. The Lilywhites swiftly identified Frank as their top choice following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou last week.

Despite clinching the Europa League title, Spurs decided to part ways with the Aussie gaffer after a disappointing 17th place finish in the Premier League. Club chairman Daniel Levy appears to be shifting gears by targeting Frank, viewed as a more practical choice.

The switch is expected to set Tottenham back £10million, but if talks continue positively, Frank could be announced as the club's new manager within the next two days, reports the BBC. Both sides are keen to wrap up the deal promptly.

Newly appointed Spurs chief Vinai Venkatesham, formerly of Arsenal, has reportedly played a crucial role in the negotiations alongside Levy. Venkatesham only took up his post at the club just over a week ago.

The promising discussions are anticipated to conclude shortly. However, the £10m compensation fee could increase depending on how many members of his coaching staff Frank wishes to bring along to north London, reports the Mirror.

One such individual already rumoured to be in discussions is assistant Justin Cochrane. Talks are ongoing regarding Frank's support team, with Cochrane's potential move particularly fitting given his coaching career began with the Europa League champions.

Cochrane was previously whispered to be in the running to take over from Frank at Brentford. Frank himself climbed the ladder from assistant to head honcho after Dean Smith's departure.

The 51 year old Danish gaffer is already plotting for the squad he'll inherit and has lobbed a challenge to his future bosses. He's keen to snag Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo to join him on a jaunt across London.

Cameroon's sharpshooter, who banged in 20 goals in the 2024/25 season, is on Manchester United's radar. The 25 year old has made no secret of his eagerness to switch to Old Trafford for a hefty wage bump.

Brentford are holding out for a cool £60m to let go of their talisman, who's also caught the eye of Newcastle United. Frank's potential move could throw a spanner in the works.

Former Manchester United goalie Ben Foster reckons the striker would do well to tag along with his boss to Spurs.

"I would say that if you want to be part of something that's going to make you a better footballer and work hard and be part of a team, then go to Spurs with Thomas Frank," the ex-Wrexham keeper dished out advice on his Fozcast podcast.

"If you are happy picking up your wages knowing that there's going to be an awful lot more pressure, a lot more eyes on you, a lot more judgement and failure is just part of what they do, then you'd go to Manchester United."
