Wizards confident in their NBA Draft chances as 3 top prospect names surface

The Washington Wizards are one of many teams who saw their Cooper Flagg dreams go up in flames in the NBA Draft Lottery in May.

Since then, many have wondered if Washington would put together a package to trade up from their No. 6 overall pick, or if they'd simply stand pat and make a pick for the best player available.

In addition to the above options, the idea of the Wizards potentially trading back to rack up additional draft picks has seem to be floated around.

However, it seems that the Wizards front office seems content on their current positioning in the upcoming NBA Draft and feel that there's a good chance that they're able to land one of the top prospects in the upcoming draft class.

Here's what we know following the latest intel around the league.

Wizards like draft odds, 3 names to watch

Washington reportedly feels confident that a high-level prospect will fall to them according to ClutchPoint's NBA Insider Brett Siegel.

In addition to their growing confidence they can land a top player, three names have surfaced that are most linked to the Wizards as they narrow down their options aheads of draft night.

Jeremiah Fears has been a player that many project to go within the top five, with many feeling his floor would be No. 6 to the Wizards.

The guard has every tool in his arsenal to be an immediate impact player at the next level besides a consistent jumper.

However, one player with a consistent jumper that is being linked to Washington is Tre Johnson, who many feel is the most natural and dominant scorer in the NBA Draft as a whole.

If he's available to the Wizards at No. 6, it wouldn't be a shock if it's revealed that Washington was eyeing the Texas standout all along, especially since he's reportedly been flying up draft boards since his showing at the NBA Combine.

Khaman Maluach is another player flying up draft boards after his showing at the combine. The big man was a defensive anchor at Duke, and after showing his offensive potential it seems teams are now ranking him as the top big man available.

The Wizards have plenty of options moving forward but it feels like they may be leaning towards standing firm at No. 6 overall and making their pick to land the top prospect available.
