The New York Knicks have a crucial offseason ahead of them as they try to upgrade their roster to make a run at a championship next season.
New York put together a great season as they finished third in the Eastern Conference and then made it to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000.
Unfortunately for the Knicks, they were unable to get past the Indiana Pacers to reach the NBA Finals as they were eliminated in six games.
After their playoff exit, New York decided to make a major change to their organization as they fired head coach Tom Thibodeau in a shocking move.

This was an unexpected move by the Knicks after Thibodeau led the Knicks to the playoffs in four of his five seasons with the team, including the Conference Finals this year.
Despite this, the Knicks clearly felt that it was time for a change and they now have a key decision to make regarding their head coaching opening this summer.
One coach the Knicks have been targeting to replace Thibodeau is Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, though their pursuit may have hit a bump on Tuesday.

According to Knicks insider Stefan Bondy, the Mavericks are expected to decline the Knicks’ request to interview Kidd.
“The Knicks haven’t yet asked permission to interview Jason Kidd for their vacant coaching position. But if it ever gets to that point, the expectation is the Mavericks front office will decline the request, a league source told The Post,” Bondy wrote.
This is a massive report by Bondy and one that does not fare too well for the Knicks as they will now have to look elsewhere for a new head coach.
Of course, things could end up changing but as of now, it looks as though Kidd is no longer an option for the Knicks.
