As the minicamp for the Falcons kicks off, multiple press conferences were held, with one of them being Cousins. After months of trade rumors, Cousins has started to move forward and accept his backup role with the Falcons.
The Falcons did not do much on the field to start this minicamp, but they got some good glimpses from the young stars, which include the rookies. The stage is set for the Falcons as they continue to work into the season and focus on their young quarterback getting reps.

Senior Editor for the Falcons Will McFadden tweeted out multiple quotes from Cousins, with one of them being, "Michael (Penix) is going to do great … I’m here to support him as he needs it.” That is very high praise coming from Cousins, who has been a reliable starter for many years.
Penix is coming into his second season which is also going to be his first full season as a starter, as he looks to take over as the leader of the offense. He has a lot of work to do, but Cousins is standing behind him ready to help at any moment.
Cousins has accepted his role as a backup after months of wanting to start for any team. He still wants to be a starter, but at the moment he has his eyes set on impressing the Falcons and getting used to the backup position.
The Falcons will continue to test out each player during minicamps and more news and updates will continue to come out.
