Liverpool now have to wait until next week before they are able to resume their transfer business. The first phase of the summer window closes on Tuesday, but will reopen again next Monday ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Reds have already been busy on the transfer front this summer with the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi. There is still the potential for more deals to be completed later in the summer as Arne Slot and Co. prepare for their league title defence.

Florian Wirtz remains a key target for Liverpool this summer with the Reds recently submitting a £113million bid for the Leverkusen star. Talks remain ongoing with the Bundesliga club with the aim of agreeing a deal for the Germany international.

Here, the ECHO takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.

Florian Wirtz update

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Romano claims a "verbal agreement" has been reached between Liverpool and Leverkusen for a total fee up to €150million (£126million), including add-ons, for the Germany international.

Wirtz is now reported to be set to make the trip to complete a medical with Liverpool ahead of the proposed.

The ECHO recently reported that Liverpool would hope to reach a compromise with Leverkusen over their asking price which has been reported as being around £126million.

Milos Kerkez update

An update has emerged on the future of Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, who is a target for Liverpool.

Sky Sports have reported that the Reds have made an official approach to the Cherries in an effort to sign Kerkez this summer.

It has been claimed, though, that Liverpool are yet to make a formal bid to sign Kerkez, who is thought to be valued by Bournemouth at around £45million.

The ECHO reported earlier this month that Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Kerkez and hope to agree a deal for the left-back.

Hugo Ekitike boost

Liverpool have been handed a boost as they continue to be linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that a deal "collapsed" on Tuesday which would have seen Ekitike complete a move to Chelsea, who have also been linked with the striker.

It has been claimed that Ekitike could still leave Frankfurt when the transfer window reopens next week, with Liverpool mentioned as a potential destination.

Chelsea, it has been reported, did not make an offer for Ekitike before Tuesday's deadline despite apparently wanting the striker before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup. It now remains to be seen what will happen with the striker's future, with the Reds still apparently in the running.
