Real Madrid will kick-start their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a game against Al-Hilal next week (June 18). The LaLiga giants will be determined to win the tournament after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos have missed out on Martin Zubimendi. Elsewhere, Rodrygo has admirers in England.

On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from June 11, 2025.

Martin Zubimendi

Arsenal have secured the services of Martin Zubimendi, according to acclaimed journalist David Ornstein (via CaughtOffside). The Spanish midfielder had emerged as a target for Real Madrid in recent weeks, with the club keen to add more quality to the squad.

Luka Modric is all set to leave at the end of the FIFA Club World Cup, and Los Blancos apparently wanted Zubimendi to take his place. The 26-year-old caught the eye with Real Sociedad in recent years, and wasn't short of admirers this summer.

While Arsenal were touted as the frontrunners in the race for Zubimendi, recent reports suggested that the LaLiga giants are attempting to hijack the deal. However, Ornstein has now reported that the player is on his way to the Emirates. Real Madrid, as such, will have to turn their attention to alternate targets.

Rodrygo wanted in EPL

Rodrygo Goes

Rodrygo is wanted in the Premier League, according to journalist Mario Cortegana (via Madrid Universal). The Brazilian star is reportedly unsettled at Real Madrid after losing prominence following Kylian Mbappe's arrival last summer.

Rodrygo has apparently been approached by multiple clubs from England to discuss the possibilities of a move this summer. Arsenal are among his suitors, with Mikel Arteta apparently convinced that the 24-year-old can make a difference at the Emirates.

The Gunners have signed Martin Odegaard and Mesut Ozil from Los Blancos in the past and are planning to repeat the trick with Rodrygo. However, the player's camp will only make a decision regarding an exit after a discussion with new manager Xabi Alonso.

Dean Huijsen opens up on Los Blancos move

Dean Huijsen

Dean Huijsen has expressed his delight at completing a move to Real Madrid this summer. The Spanish defender was a wanted man after an impressive 2024-25 campaign with Bournemouth.

However, Los Blancos won the race for his signature, reportedly paying €58m to prise him away. The 20-year-old has agreed to a five-year deal with the LaLiga giants and was officially unveiled on Tuesday (June 10).

Speaking to the club's media, as cited by Madrid Universal, Huijsen said Real Madrid is the 'club of his life.'

“I want to thank the president. I’ve wanted to be here since day one. From the moment Madrid called, I didn’t have eyes for another team. I want to thank my family, from driving every day to train, to travelling with me…. And thanks to my brothers,” said Huijsen.

He continued:

“I’m coming to the best club in the world and I’m here to give everything. With humility and hopefully we can win many trophies together. Madrid is the club of my life. Thank you very much. Hala Madrid.”

Huijsen's arrival has raised questions about David Alaba's future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

His writing prowess has even led his work getting cited on the legendary Franz Beckenbauer's Wikipedia page.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.

Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.

Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
