Victor Wembanyama continues to immerse himself in the way of the monk.
The San Antonio Spurs superstar’s spiritual retreat halfway across the world has become a fascinating secondary storyline with the NBA Finals ongoing. Last week, photos of Wembanyama with a shaved head in monk garb at a Shaolin temple spread across social media.
Wembanyama is “deeply interested” in Shaolin culture and is undergoing a 10-day retreat, per FOX San Antonio reporter Dusty Garza.
However, Wemby has not forgotten about staying in shape ahead of another NBA season. On Tuesday, the towering 21-year-old was seen going for a jog during the said retreat.

Some fairly questioned the authenticity of the initial photos of a bald-headed Wembanyama. But it’s hard to mistake Wemby for anybody else in the video of him jogging above.
Wembanyama may be clearing his head from distractions ahead of what’s expected to be a breakout season for the Frenchman. With two years of NBA experience under his belt, Wemby’s next target is making the playoffs for the first time in his career.
The Spurs already traded for All-Star De’Aaron Fox last season to give Wembanyama a co-star. San Antonio may be looking to bring in one more star to form a Big 3 next to Fox and Wemby.
