Man United young star signs professional contract, he has already played for the first team

Manchester United young star Re isece Munro has signed his first professional contract with the club, according to Manchester Evening News.

The young English defender joined United in 2023 and quickly became a vital player for the Under-18s.

He made 15 appearances during their 2023/2024 Premier League and Premier League Cup-winning campaign.

He played every game for the U18s in the FA Youth Cup last season, where they lost in the semi-final to eventual champions Aston Villa.

He also played 13 times in the U18 Premier League, scoring one goal and providing an assist.

Munro debuted for the U21s last term, coming on as a substitute in their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in February. He featured in seven league games for them.

He is one of the highly talented young stars in United’s academy and was included in the post-season tour squad to Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Munro started as the right centre-back in the 1-0 loss to ASEAN All-Stars but was a substitute in the 3-1 triumph over Hong Kong.

Upon signing his first professional contract, Munro wrote on Instagram: “Delighted to announce I’ve signed my first professional contract with this massive club, a proud moment for me and my family.

“Thank you to those who have played a role in my journey so far. Hard work continues.”

He may be given more opportunities to impress manager Ruben Amorim during the pre-season, but he is unlikely to get game time with the first team next season.

Amorim has enough options at right centre-back, meaning only injuries would force the Portuguese tactician to consider using the English defender.

Munro is one of the 10 scholars United have offered professional contracts to. Others are also expected to extend their stay at the club.
