Nottingham Forest might find themselves in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.
It’s absolutely nothing against Matz Sels, who has just won a share of the Golden Glove for his form last season, but strength in depth is a must.
Carlos Miguel didn’t play in the Premier League last season, and the Brazilian looked somewhat shaky in his final appearance, an FA Cup win over Exeter.
Miguel has been linked with a Forest transfer. He’s had Brazilian clubs keen to land him, whilst Wayne Hennessey will be offered a coaching role at Forest this summer.
Now, another custodian is likely to be on the horizon, and the rumour mill is rife as far as Forest are concerned at the moment.

Nottingham Forest want Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri
Death, taxes and Forest being linked with a player at a club owned by John Textor.
According to UOL, Forest are the latest club to show an interest in Lyon goalkeeper Perri, with Milan also monitoring the situation.
Perri signed for Lyon in January 2024 from Botafogo, with Textor doing some reshuffling behind the scenes, with the businessman owning both clubs.
MORE FOREST STORIES
The 27-year-old has experience of playing in the Europa League and during the 2024/25 campaign, he made 45 appearances in all competitions, keeping 13 clean sheets.
At this stage, it’s not clear how much Perri would cost but it’s fair to say that interest will be rife in the player this summer.
Perri saves more shots than Matz Sels
When it comes to the statistics, there isn’t much difference between Sels and Perri.
Squawka shows that Sels actually saves more shots, with 120 compared to Perri’s 116 last season but the Brazilian has a higher saves made percentage.
Perri saves 72.5% of the shots he faces, in comparison to the Belgian, who saved 72.29% last season.
The Lyon player’s kicking is slightly better too, with Perri making 35.99% of the long passes he attempts.
Lyon boss Paulo Fonseca is a huge fan of the goalkeeper too, calling Perri, ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’ after some fine performances during 2024/25.
Forest might not be hellbent on replacing Sels next season but with lots of games to play in Europe, Perri would perhaps be ideal to bolster the competition.
Lyon are signing Matt Turner from Forest and it would appear that the club are preparing for the departure of their first-choice custodian this summer.
