3 players Tottenham need to sign from Brentford for Thomas Frank

Tottenham has wasted no time in replacing Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked on Friday. Following a quick weekend of negotiations, they have appointed Thomas Frank as their next manager.

Frank leaves Brentford following six seasons in charge, during which he oversaw the club's promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and led them to a 10th-place finish this season.

Under Frank, Brentford was able to be successful in the Premier League despite not having big club money, something that must be music to Daniel Levy's ears. Despite his success, he usually starts slow, losing eight out of his first ten matches at Brentford.

But Spurs can help their new manager hit the ground running by raiding his old club.

Bryan Mbeumo

The first name on the target list needs to be one of the hottest names this summer, Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo has been strongly linked with Manchester United, but Spurs should look to hijack any deal.

Under Frank last season, Mbeumo scored 20 goals and provided seven assists. When comparing him to other forwards, he was one of the most progressive last season.

According to Football Reference, he ranked in the 96th percentile in progressive passes per 90, but he drove the ball forward in multiple ways, averaging 3.43 progressive carries per 90. Along with this, he was also a crucial piece in Frank's attacking plan, finishing the season in the 96th percentile for shot-creating action.

Bringing in Frank's trusted talisman, who understands how to work and succeed in his system, should help ease his transition as Spurs manager.

Mikkel Damsgaard

Spurs saw their more creative midfielders struggle with injuries throughout the season, with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski missing some key matches.

Due to this, Tottenham should look at the creative outlet that made everything work at Brentford.

Mikkel Damsgaard would be an excellent addition for Spurs. He is just 24 years old and provided 10 assists while creating nearly two chances per 90 minutes during his time at Brentford last season.

In addition to his creativity, he demonstrated versatility under Frank, playing on the left, in the middle, and on the wing. He worked hard on both ends of the pitch as well, averaging 5.5 recoveries per match.

Damsgaard would help provide cover in most creative areas on the pitch and give Frank the ability to adjust if any injuries hit the Spurs midfield next season.

Christian Nørgaard

The 31-year-old is older than a player Spurs might look to target, but he has been Frank's appointed captain since 2023 and could help the young midfielders in the squad.

Spurs have been looking for a number 6 for a long time, someone to sit in front of the backline and break up play. Nørgaard is that exact type of player. He was in the 90th percentile in interceptions last season and averaged 2.2 clearances, 1.6 blocks, and 2.5 tackles per 90 minutes.

But more importantly, Nørgaard is a player who understands precisely what Frank asks of him and his players, and he could be an invaluable piece in the development of the incredible midfield talent at Spurs.

Players like Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and Pape Matar Sarr could all flourish under Frank, but an experienced presence could help them reach their full potential faster.
