Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is on the radar of Tottenham
Thomas Frank is now set to end his seven-year spell with Brentford and take on a new challenge at Tottenham Hotspur, who endured their worst-ever Premier League campaign this past season.
The North Londoners finished just 17th in the table under former boss Ange Postecoglou, losing a worrying 22 games from 38 games. A victory in the Europa League final over Manchester United did salvage the campaign to some extent, helping the club qualify for next season’s Champions League.
So, Thomas Frank will arrive at a time where multiple changes are set to happen at N17. Tottenham are looking closely at various targets, despite the Danish tactician not being in their dugout just yet. Now that the Lilywhites have Champions League football secured for next season, they will instantly become a significantly more alluring destination for young talents with high ceiling, despite how underwhelming their Premier League campaign was last term.

Tottenham would need an ‘astronomical fee’ to tempt Crystal Palace to sell Adam Wharton
Tottenham would need an ‘astronomical fee’ to tempt Crystal Palace to sell Adam Wharton
Spurs have already been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane and Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish, with Daniel Levy expected to loosen his purse strings this summer. Now, David Bentley feels his former club should do everything within their powers to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.
Adam Wharton earned his place in the England squad for the 2024 European Championship in Germany under former boss Gareth Southgate after a strong 2023/24 campaign. However, he has been left out of the England squad for the upcoming Under-21 Euro in Slovakia, but the youngster is still expected to have a bright future in the game.
David Bentley thinks a player of the Crystal Palace talent’s qualities could help solve a big problem in the Tottenham engine room next season and beyond.
“I think they (Spurs) should get Adam Wharton from Palace,” Bentley told in an exclusive interview with Oddschecker.
“They need a midfielder who’s going to sit in there and dictate. I wouldn’t say that any of Sarr, Bissouma and Bentancur are good enough at dictating the play. That’s one area they need to improve in for the Champions League.
“I’d be spending big bucks to get someone in who can do that job.”
Daniel Levy will have to break the bank to sign Adam Wharton this summer

Spurs have been linked with Adam Wharton since last year and for all the right reasons. The 21-year-old has shown enough promise to suggest he could easily become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in the near future. That’s how good he has been for Crystal Palace since arriving from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024.
Despite a stop-start full season at Selhurst Park, the Englishman helped the Eagles win the FA Cup in May. He was a key presence in the middle of the park, as Oliver Glasner’s side beat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final. With Yves Bissouma heavily linked with an exit, Spurs could look at Wharton as a potential replacement for the Mali international.

However, Palace have no intention to sell their prized asset this summer. It would take an “astronomical figure” to persuade them to change their mind on Wharton. This clearly suggest Levy has to break the bank in order to sign Wharton, who has the right skill-set to thrive in incoming boss Frank’s system.
