Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford did not play for England on Tuesday evening against Senegal.
There were a number of Everton players involved in the game at the City Ground, but their shot-stopper was not one of them.
Although he was not on the pitch, Pickford will have seen his England stock rise as the Three Lions were left embarrassed against Senegal.
Everton want to hand Idrissa Gana Gueye a new contract and the midfielder showed exactly why as he helped the African side on to a 3-1 victory.
England did win their World Cup Qualifier over the weekend against Andorra but this friendly is one they will be wanting to forget.
Now it is time for Pickford and his Everton teammates to finally enjoy the summer break.
And there were some left writing their apologies after the Everton goalkeeper watched on from the bench on Tuesday.

Adrian Durham shares fresh claim on Everton’s Jordan Pickford after England loss
Over the weekend, Adrian Durham gave Pickford a low rating after not having anything to do in England’s victory over Andorra.

Dean Henderson started on Tuesday night and had a lot more work to do between the sticks as he saw three goals go past him.
Speaking on TalkSPORT after the game, Durham’s tune on Pickford changed very quickly.
The journalist handed Henderson with a mere 3/10 rating after seeing three goals fly into his net at the City Ground.
But it is what Durham said which a lot of Everton fans will enjoy as he admitted Pickford ‘won’t feel threatened’ by the showing from the Crystal Palace man.
Jamie Carragher hailed Pickford as Everton’s best player this season and he has consistently shown his class for England.
Tuchel wanted to explore his options against Senegal, but it became clear goalkeeper was not a position up for grabs.

Just months into his tenure, the German manager is already causing some frustration on Merseyside.
As if leaving Pickford out of the starting XI isn’t bad enough, Tuchel admitted he wants Pickford playing European football to continue his development.
This is not the first time an Everton player has suffered from this, with Jarrad Branthwaite also on the receiving end.
Clearly, Henderson was unable to put in a performance to rival Pickford’s starting spot in the XI despite being set to play European football this season.
if anything, Pickford’s importance to the England side was only highlighted in his absence on Tuesday.
