Erling Haaland paid a heartfelt tribute to departing Manchester City teammate Scott Carson, who has left the Etihad after a six-year stint as the club's back-up goalkeeper.
Though he only featured twice for Pep Guardiola's team, the former England keeper has been a reliable player and a source of experience and leadership within the squad.
At the age of 39, Carson may have bid adieu to City, but his influence on fellow players like Haaland remains evident, as the Norwegian prodigy took to Instagram to share a homage to the seasoned goalkeeper.
Haaland posted images alongside Carson, commemorating their shared moments at City, and in his message, he penned: "The kind of teammate every squad needs. All the best in the new chapter @scottpcarson33!"
Carson last appeared for City in a Champions League outing against Sporting Lisbon in the 21/22 season, yet his popularity in the team endured far beyond his pitch time, contributing significantly to team spirit and supporting training efforts, reports the Mirror.
Manchester City highlighted Carson's positive impact in their farewell statement on the official website: "During his time at City, Carson has been praised by goalkeeping coach Xabi Mancisidor and peers Ederson and Stefan Ortega Moreno for his work ethic and the effect of his positive attitude amongst the group.
"He has been part of a squad that has lifted 11 major honours over the last six seasons during what has been a historic period of success for Pep Guardiola 's team.
"Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and wish him the very best of luck for the future."
Despite only playing 108 minutes for City, Carson was part of an extraordinary era that saw the team clinch the Premier League four times, as well as the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Champions League and Club World Cup.
He follows Kevin de Bruyne out of City, with Jack Grealish also expected to depart soon.
