Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye started as Senegal beat England 3-1 in a friendly at the City Ground on Tuesday.

Thomas Tuchel’s team hosted the Lions of Teranga, with Harry Kane finding the back of the net early on in the fixture.

Senegal made a comeback, with Ismaila Sarr levelling the tie before the break, with Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly scoring in the second half.

Ndiaye was impressive against Ireland, as Pape Thiaw’s team came away with a 1-1 draw on 6 June, and also made an impact against the Three Lions.

Regarding the ex-Olympique Marseille star’s performance, wiwsport wrote (10 June): “The Everton striker wasn’t as influential as he was in the match against Ireland. However, he was the main trigger for Senegal’s chances, especially early on.

“From the fifth minute, he put Lewis-Skelly and then Gallagher on his back before ideally setting up Jackson. Even though he was mostly out of action, his impact in dribbling and holding the ball was clearly noticeable.”

Ndiaye has been pivotal for David Moyes this season, as he has been one of the most creative outlets for the Toffees up front.

The Senegalese forward’s injury at Goodison Park was a bitter blow for the Scottish manager towards the end of the campaign, but he did deliver in the final few Premier League matches.

Under Sean Dyche, the 25-year-old stood out for the Blues despite their abysmal form in the top flight, showcasing his importance to the team.

Everton will hope to push further up the table next season, and Ndiaye will undoubtedly play a pivotal role for them.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) should invest in a quality goalscorer next season, which will arguably improve the Senegalese’s contribution to the Toffees, as the chances he creates are likely to be converted.

Moyes’ return to the Blues’ dugout has been mesmerising, and it’ll be interesting to see what he’ll be able to achieve with a better squad.

Ndiaye has shown that he can be the Merseyside outfit’s talisman for the coming years and a bright spark for Senegal as well.
