Report: Nottingham Forest and Erik ten Hag ask for information on five-cap international winger

Nottingham Forest will be looking for more options out wide this summer as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to bolster the squad.

Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi are the two primary wingers under Espirito Santo, but both have been linked with the City Ground exit.

Elanga is wanted by Newcastle this summer, with Eddie Howe holding a long-term interest in the player who starred for Sweden last week.

Napoli like Hudson-Odoi and given that he’s got a year to run on his existing contract, the Reds might look to cash in this summer if the price is right.

In reserve, Forest will be looking for better than Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa, with both players making minimal impact last season for the Reds.

Nottingham Forest want Lucas Cepeda

The Reds seem to have a desire to attack the South American transfer window as much as they possibly can, and Chile is the club’s next destination.

According to Chilean football journalist Juan Antonio, Forest are keen to sign Colo-Colo star Lucas Cepeda once the summer transfer window reopens.

Cepeda typically plays on the left wing and has been with his current club since February 2024, when he signed from Wanderers.

MORE FOREST STORIES

The 22-year-old has made 54 appearances for Colo-Colo in total, registering 12 assists and scoring five goals from his position on the left.

Furthermore, he’s been summoned to make five outings for Chile and has bagged three goals so far on the international stage.

Bayer Leverkusen are also keen on signing Cepeda this summer, and it would appear that his next destination will be Europe.

Forest need to target stellar wingers too

It would be great to make sure the strength in depth is improved at Forest this summer, but it would also be ideal for the club to sign a player genuinely capable of slotting in for Hudson-Odoi or Elanga.

Cepeda might be a useful option, but having never made the leap into European football, perhaps it’s just too much of a risk to take.

Given that it’s unlikely to cost a fortune to sign Cepeda, he could still be a risk worth taking, but the impact he makes at Forest in a league as demanding as the Premier League might be minimal.

Forest will once again look to be savvy in the transfer market and if Cepeda signs, it’s likely that he will have to prove himself from the bench in the first instance.
