Chelsea have just risked seriously upsetting one of their top young players in the form of Ecuadorian youngster Kendry Paez.
There is plenty of excitement at the club that they have signed one of the most promising youngsters in world football by bringing in Paez, and this summer he is finally eligible to officially join.
Chelsea requested Paez leave his club in Ecuador early in order to move to Europe and begin training and getting used to the physicality that awaits him after his transfer.
He spent a considerable amount of time working with BlueCo sister club Strasbourg, and the intention seemed that Paez would be loaned to Strasbourg for the 2025/26 season.

Kendry Paez ‘disappointed’ at Chelsea’s Club World Cup backtrack
This was after the upcoming Club World Cup though, where he was set to get the chance to announce himself to his new fans in the United States.
Those plans have now changed though. Ben Jacobs has stated that the Blues are set to leave him out of the travelling squad, a decision which has left the player disappointed.
He said: “Situation with Kendry Paez has changed. Player was expecting to go to the Club World Cup last week and then have his future decided. Chelsea have determined he is not part of their squad, with a Strasbourg loan anticipated. Paez understood to be disappointed as summer plans altered.
“Strasbourg loan always a strong possibility, and it is Chelsea’s intent now. Still needs to be fully finalised with the player side, but not likely to be an issue as Paez has already spent some time training with Liam Rosenior’s side.”

Chelsea hoping for Andrey Santos repeat with Paez
A loan move away does not mean the Blues are not still extremely excited by what is to come from Paez. This is despite fellow new signing Estevao Willian remaining with the first team for the upcoming campaign.
Instead, they will be hoping the situation plays out like it did with Andrey Santos, where patience was ultimately the key before his official Stamford Bridge debut.
Santos was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season after his second spell on loan there, with him now deemed ready to contribute for Enzo Maresca’s side.
Chelsea will be hoping by next summer the same has occurred with Paez, even if he has been left disappointed to not represent the Blues at the upcoming Club World Cup.
