Jadon Sancho faces an awkward return to Manchester United after failing to join Chelsea this summer.
Manchester United fans thought they had finally seen the last of Jadon Sancho when he was loaned to Chelsea last season with an obligatory buy clause.
Well, at least it was first believed to be an obligatory clause before Chelsea triggered a £5m penalty to return Sancho to Manchester after the 25-year-old failed to agree personal terms.
Now that Sancho’s move to Chelsea has collapsed, he is set to return to Carrington at the end of the month but it will be an extremely awkward reunion.
Sancho made a petty ‘freedom’ dig after leaving United, and his public argument with Erik ten Hag certainly didn’t get many fans on his side.

Man United fans react to Jadon Sancho’s transfer demands
With Sancho set to return, Ineos are busy trying to find a new club for the English winger but it is proving difficult.
Mostly because Sancho is refusing to cut his £300,000 per week wages. A latest report suggests Sancho is pushing for a loan to Borussia Dortmund but he is unwilling to cut his salary.

This was also the reason he rejected Chelsea’s proposal.

More United News
United fans on social media are quickly running out of patience with Sancho with many suggesting he should have his deal terminated.
“At this point, take the 5m we got from Chelsea and terminate his contract since he’s clearly just looking to run it out anyways,” one fan said.
Another said: “Refuse his loan and let him go train with the U12.”
The fanbase continued to suggest that Sancho should be starved of game time. “I’d sit him on the bench till the end of his contract.”
One fan posted: “He should be made to rot with the reserves since the money is all he cares about.”
Another fan argued that Sancho should be left to “rot”: “Pay him but let him rot in the reserves for a year. Don’t let him anywhere near the first team.”
Finally, one fan posted: “If I’m United I won’t loan him… It’s either he goes or he runs down his contract without playing any football… By the time he decides to resume football as a free agent then teams will want to pay him 40k per week.”

Why Man United shouldn’t terminate Jadon Sancho’s contract
As suggested by the fanbase, one option is for Ineos to terminate Sancho’s contract and let him leave as a free agent.
If it was a free option, then everyone at the club would likely agree that it’s best to get Sancho out of sight as quickly as possible, but unfortunately, it would come at a huge cost.
Finance expert Adam Williams exclusively told United in Focus that it would cost around £31.6m for United to terminate Sancho’s contract as they would have to cover his full wages and the amortisation costs.

United value Sancho at around £25m this summer and clubs have shown an interest in buying him, but his stubbornness around wages is making it difficult to get a deal over the line.
Instead of moving elsewhere to play regular football, Sancho now could spend the 2025/26 season rotting away at Old Trafford. Sancho threw away his chance at playing in the Club World Cup, and he is slowly but surely ending any chance of him playing at the highest level of European football.
